Listening to God

Listening to God: Memories and Hopes at Thornapple

It is an exciting time to be a part of Thornapple.  There is a sense of vitality and anticipation as we gather on Sundays and as we engage in God’s ministry during the week in the marketplace, the community and in our homes.

What are we all about as a church though?  How do we stay focused on what God is calling us to be and do?  How can we foster a heart of gratitude for God’s faithfulness to us?

Pastor Rob, the elders, and staff believe that, at this time in the life of Thornapple, it is wise for us to pause and listen to God in order to clarify our history, gifting, and calling, in the hope of becoming even more true to our unique, God-given identity.

April 2012 Listening to God Update from Pastor Andrew:

Through conversations at listening events early in the year, the congregation was invited to share stories and experiences of significance in the life of our body. A team is now engaged in the work of reading the anonymous conversation notes and discerning the life-giving themes of our church. The team will then create a set of drafts around the themes. At 7pm on Wednesday, May 16 the congregation will be invited to interact around the team's work. Please save the date (childcare will be provided) and uphold the reading team in prayer that they might be attuned to the Holy Spirit and listen well. If you have questions, contact Pastor Andrew at avanover@thornapple.org or 957-0580.
