Sunday Gatherings

Sundays at Thornapple are a time to worship, learn and fellowship with others.  For more on what to expect on a Sunday morning, click here.

We offer two worship options, one at 9:00am and one at 10:30am:

In both worship hours we create the time and space for us to respond to God with all that we are, both individually and corporately. We strive to tell God's story through new and classic songs; visual and creative arts; new and ancient prayers; strong Biblical and practical teaching; and times of meditation and reflection. We seek to create a worship environment that reaches into the spiritual depth of the past while embracing the new expressions of the present. Our 9:00am worship gathering is our contemporary hour using a full band with a variety of instruments.  In addition to worship at 9:00 September through May there is:

• an adult fprmation class (library),*
• children's worship for ages 4 through 3rd grade, and
• a class for children with special needs.

Our 10:30am worship gathering is our blended hour merging organ, choir, an acoustic band, and piano. In addition to worship at 10:30 September through May there is:

• an adult formation class (community room),*
• children and student classes (3 year olds through high school),** and
• a class for children with special needs.

Nursery is provided during both services all year.

During the school year, September through May, classes for children and students are offered during the 10:30 hour and adult classes are offered during both hours.  Children and student classes, and nurseries, are located in the lower level.  There are people at information desks in both the upper and lower levels to answer questions.

Summer Sunday Celebration is for all fall 4 year olds to 1st graders.  They meet in Room 118 Sundays in the summer during both services.

There is no "dress code" at Thornapple - on any given Sunday morning, you will see everything from jeans and sweatshirts to jackets and ties.
